Presented in association with BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, the nationwide event honours the art of the album format across physical and digital music retailers. The 2026 slate spans a wide spectrum of genres, featuring strictly limited-edition coloured vinyls, anniversary editions, and special formats designed to engage collectors as well as younger music fans.
Highlights among the reissue slate include a limited release of George Michael’s Listen Without Prejudice, the 40th anniversary edition of The Pretenders’ Get Close, and a 60th anniversary red vinyl pressing of The Who’s seminal album My Generation. Pink Floyd’s Meddle, New Order’s Brotherhood, and a special Zoetrope vinyl edition of Suede’s 1996 record Coming Up are also featured. Additional standout releases include 50th-anniversary editions of Bob Dylan’s Desire on Cypress Green marbled vinyl and Donna Summer’s Four Seasons Of Love, alongside special pressings for Bryan Ferry’s Boys and Girls, Goldie’s Timeless, and Aretha Franklin’s Aretha’s Gold.
To advocate for the cultural significance of the long-player, National Album Day has named Spice Girl Melanie C, global hitmaker PinkPantheress, and composer Max Richter CBE as official Album Champions for 2026, with further artist champions to be announced ahead of October.
Organised jointly by the BPI and ERA, National Album Day aims to unite record labels, independent record shops, and high street retailers in promoting album discovery.
