Hilary Duff has ventured into the Dr. Seuss universe with CATastrophe, a fresh track created for The Cat in the Hat.
The animated adaptation of the children’s classic lands in cinemas and IMAX on November 6.
The song, written in collaboration with Hilary’s husband Matthew Koma, Madison Love and Brian Phillips, is positioned as the emotional backbone of the film.
The former Lizzie McGuire star also delivered a vibrant, surreal music video directed for the track, which places her inside a sequence of oversized, Seuss-inspired worlds.
Hilary eagerly joined the project because Dr. Seuss had a major influence on her childhood.
She said in a statement: “Dr. Seuss was on repeat in our house for years, so when this came around, I didn’t have to think about it.
“CATastrophe is about that feeling when your whole world gets picked up and moved somewhere else and nobody asks you first. I wanted it to be honest about those feelings, and still be something you’d turn all the way up in the car.”
The track will appear on The Cat in the Hat (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), out October 30. The album includes a score by Lorne Balfe and a new theme song written by Tim Minchin and performed by FITZ and Tim Minchin featuring Bill Hader.
The surprise release comes hot on the heels of Hilary expanding her Lucky Me world tour. After overwhelming demand, she has added 32 new dates, turning the run into one of her biggest tours yet. The European leg begins May 7 in Madrid and continues through Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, San Juan, São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago. Rebecca Black will support across all European shows.
Hilary returns to North America later in the year, launching the 2027 leg on October 1 in Sunrise, Florida. The run includes Orlando, Raleigh, Baltimore, Uncasville, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Fort Worth, Milwaukee and Denver, before wrapping November 20 in Anaheim. Dashboard Confessional and Tegan and Sara will appear on select dates.
The tour supports the release of Hilary’s album Luck… or Something, her first in more than a decade, which reached the Top 5 in both the US and UK.
