Karol G has praised Drake for his command of the Spanish language.

The Colombian-born Latin pop icon spoke with enthusiasm on The New York Times’ music and culture podcast Popcast about Drake’s Spanish performance on their collaboration, Ahí.

“I love him singing in Spanish, and he does it so good that when I presented the song to him, he was like, ‘Should I do like a verse in English or something?'” she recalled.

“And I was like, ‘You should do it in Spanish. You sound so good in Spanish.’ He said, ‘Come and make me do it perfectly.'”

The artist known for TQG took a hands-on approach, guiding Drake line by line to ensure proper pronunciation of a few words.

“I tried to just play a little bit with his pronunciation,” she added. “It was so much fun; he’s amazing.”

Ahí surged to the top of the Hot Latin Songs chart, while also climbing to No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Drake recently joined Karol G’s Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour during a stop in Toronto. He later joined the Colombian star on stage in Houston for the live debut of Ahí, before sticking around to perform Janice STFU and One Dance.

Despite substantial online fan chatter, neither Drake nor Karol G has confirmed any romantic relationship between them.
