Crafted as a message of encouragement for those grappling with their darkest hours, “Back To Me” opens with frontman Steve Garrigan’s stripped-back vocal delivery accompanied by delicate piano. Garrigan explained that the track draws from personal experiences on both sides of struggle, written to lift listeners up and remind them that they are never truly alone.
The forthcoming 12-track album, We Were Only Young, presents a reflective meditation on growth, connection, love, and closure. The collection spans a broad sonic landscape, ranging from intimate acoustic ballads like “All I Ever Need Is You” and gospel-infused pieces such as “Learn To Lose” to vibrant pop anthems like “It’s Not Over” and the folk-tinged “Vultures.” The record opens with the moody “Who Will Save You Now” and closes with “The One For Me.” It also includes previously released singles “Without You,” written by Garrigan for his wife on their wedding day, and the nostalgic title track.
The news arrives as Kodaline continue to perform to sold-out venues across the globe on their extensive Farewell World Tour. After kicking off the run with major outdoor shows in Ireland for a crowd of 50,000, the band is currently touring through Asia before heading to Australia, Europe, and the UK. The tour features setlists that span their multi-platinum catalog, with the entire UK leg in December already sold out.
