Land Of Talk: Canines and Felines

October 19, 2026

Land Of Talk, the enduring indie rock project led by Montreal artist Lizzie Powell, is gearing up to issue their new LP LASTS next month, and we’ve already highlighted its lead single “4:44.” The record happens to feature consecutive tracks titled “Dogs” and “Cats,” which makes pairing them for a joint release a natural move.

“Dogs” unfurls as a hazy, clang-heavy track, and a press release notes that Powell aimed to “write a song that captures the feeling of listening to the Cure”—a compelling notion, even if it brings to mind a Sonic Youth cut with Kim Gordon singing lead rather than a pure Cure homage. Meanwhile, “Cats” moves with a hip-swaying gait, its groove carrying a trace of abrasive texture. I lean toward “Dogs,” perhaps because I’m more of a dog person. Still, both pieces are cool, mirroring the appeal of their animal namesakes. Ana-Maria Espino Trudel directed videos for both tracks, and you can watch them below.

LASTS is slated for release on 11/13 through Saddle Creek.
