Lights by John Glacier

October 9, 2026

The effortlessly stylish producer-artist John Glacier, who released one of our favorite albums last year, returns with her second single of the season. “Lights,” the follow-up to this summer’s “Bond Girl,” finds Glacier luxuriating in a life of affluence.

“Lights” sketches the life of a global icon. The strobe of camera flashes catches every gleam of the glamour she wears. Furs, glittering pedicures, and a chauffeur poised to whisk her away anchor a fantasy of excess. Is she seeking an exit from the relentless gaze, or riding high on the thrill of perpetual motion? The spare beat, a serpentine synth line, and quick, jittery drum taps provide a teasing counterpoint to the opulence Glacier delivers in a cool, matter-of-fact rap. The track feels both hypnotic and addictive.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
