In the wake of Scott Kelly’s exit in 2022, following his admission of abusing his wife and children, Neurosis rebuilt their lineup with Aaron Turner of Sumac and Old Man Gloom stepping in as the new frontman. Despite the troubling backdrop, the legendary post-metal group has resurfaced even stronger. Earlier this year they issued a surprise record titled An Undying Love For A Burning World. Last night marked their first live appearance in seven years.
Neurosis closed the Fire In The Mountains festival on the Blackfeet Nation at Red Eagle Campground in East Glacier Park, Montana. The event was staged in support of Firekeeper Alliance, a charity focused on youth suicide prevention. Their ten-song set largely drew from the new album, though they also included “The Tide” from 2001’s A Sun That Never Sets, “Lost” from 1993’s Enemy Of The Sun, “Distill (Watching the Swarm)” from 2007’s Given To The Rising, and “End Of The Harvest” from 1999’s Times Of Grace.
