Or Best Offer Announces New Album — Hear Fast Strong Horse Preview

November 1, 2026

The relatively new NY/Nashville label Good English Records has been assembling a robust roster of rising groups, including Victoryland, Proun, Crate, face of an ancient gallery, and Billboard Style. Yesterday, the New York duo Or Best Offer — Grace Schmidhauser and Brian Culligan — joined that lively family. They also released the lead single “Fast Strong Horse,” from their forthcoming album It Will Appear.

“Fast Strong Horse” unfolds as a remarkable ride. It kicks off with electric drones, plaintive guitars, and somber vocals. As it progresses, the track bursts into a stampede of percussion and brass flourishes. It’s incredibly compelling. The song’s title draws from the final lines of Clarice Lispector’s debut novel Near To The Wild Heart.

“This is effectively the record’s pop tune, an effort to summon sanity, agency and dignity during a stretch of feeling diminished,” Schmidhauser described in a press release. “It’s a quilt of associations forged from the brain fog of psychic pain and geographic restlessness, trying to analyze your dreams, reading books by intense women drunk in the bathtub. It’s about the urge to extract something useful and transcendent from a period of feeling unknown to yourself, fueling the belief that some force could grab you by the collar and pull you back into your own life.”
