We are back in full force. Long Island’s own Jade Lilitri returns today with news of the forthcoming Oso Oso record, an exchange of information. The album is slated for a November release on Feral Twin, Mark Quinlan’s fresh label, launched by Hop Along’s drummer. The leading single “know you know me better,” already released, opens with a surprising string arrangement that may be real or synthetic. But at heart the track is precisely the kind of pristine emo-adjacent guitar-pop that Lilitri has honed for years. This subtle pivot from the classic Oso Oso sound aligns with his remarks about the new album:
You reach a point where you’re releasing your sixth LP for a given project, and it almost feels as though the earlier records themselves become influence. You know what the “band” is about. You know where you’ve been, how you think it could be improved, but you also have to decide where you want to go that you haven’t been before. There was a lot of focus on that during the writing of these songs.
Quinlan also shared thoughts on launching Feral Twin:
I’ve spent most of my life around independent music, as a musician, an agent, a talent buyer, touring, booking shows, and working with artists. Feral Twin grew out of wanting to take everything I’ve learned from those different sides of the industry and build something intentional where every release matters. I’m not interested in putting out records just to fill a release schedule. I want Feral Twin to be a home for music and ideas I genuinely believe in, made by artists I respect, and to give those works the kind of care and attention they deserve. Having an exchange of information be the first release feels like the perfect way to introduce Feral Twin.
