In the coming month, the Sydney-based psychedelic rock duo Party Dozen will unveil their new collection, 21 Bum Salute, a potent run of sax-and-drum attacks. We’ve already featured their tracks “Special Unit” and “Euro Stomper,” and now they’ve released the scorching, Stooges-inspired “Full Powers.” It’s the kind of track where the sax bleats dominate the vocals. Here’s the band’s own take on it:
There are two sides to “Full Powers”: a good one and a bad one. The good is when you feel yourself growing exceedingly powerful, an angel showers you with blessing, everything aligns, and you find yourself gliding down the street with kingly swagger.
The bad arises when one side monopolizes the power and more is never enough. Powerlust, greed, and gluttony. The track oscillates between these states. It exudes a strong, assured vibe that becomes a touch unsettling as it develops.
