Paul McCartney maintains that he can recall aspects of his birth.
In an appearance for the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast on Tuesday, host Amy pressed the former Beatle to reveal one of his earliest memories.
McCartney responded by saying he truly believes he remembers being born.
“These things, you never know if you’ve invented them. But I have a sense that I actually remember being born,” he began. “I was delivered at Walton Hospital in Liverpool, a genuine old Victorian building; I think it had served a different purpose before becoming a hospital.”
The performer behind Blackbird went on to recount some specifics about the hospital.
Nevertheless, he stressed that he isn’t certain whether the memories are authentic or if they were imagined later.
“So, I seem to remember white tiles, very clean white tiles and chrome instruments and a clanging noise, because I was born with forceps. They had to pull me out,” the 84-year-old continued, adding: “I don’t know if it’s true.”
During the rest of the discussion, Paul named the artist he would be too nervous to contact for a possible collaboration.
“I always think of Bob Dylan. But I’m too anxious to ring him up. ‘Bob? It’s Paul,'” he smiled, while Amy joked that she can’t even picture the 85-year-old music legend owning a phone.
Last week, Paul introduced a special edition of his twentieth solo studio album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The release includes three tracks that had not been released before.
