Paul McCartney Teases Taylor Swift to Sing a Beatles Classic at Travis Kelce’s Wedding

October 3, 2026

Sir Paul McCartney initially teased Taylor Swift about taking the stage to perform I Want to Hold Your Hand at the couple’s wedding.

The Beatles icon sang the band’s 1964 classic for the pop megastar and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, both 36, at their nuptials at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3 at Taylor’s request, but Paul, 84, hoped she would join him for a duet on stage.

During his appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Friday (02.10.26), he recalled: “I told her she should join in and dedicate it to her man.”

It remains unclear whether Taylor took the stage with Paul to perform a duet of I Want to Hold Your Hand.

In May, he conceded that he sees “parallels” between The Beatles and the 14-time Grammy winner, noting that her level of stardom matches the hysteria that surrounded the Fab Four—Paul, Sir Ringo Starr, 86, and the late John Lennon and George Harrison—in the mid-1960s.

Speaking on BBC’s Tracks of My Years, Paul was asked if he would offer any guidance to the Opalite hitmaker and replied: “You can see the parallel—the fame and the worldwide fame Taylor Swift has, and what we had—but I doubt she needs any advice, to tell you the truth. If she asked for it, I would certainly give it. I feel like the elder brother to that generation, or maybe even a grandfather.”

The “Hey Jude” legend met Taylor at a party organized by his wife, Nancy Shevell, 66, and their daughter, fashion designer Stella McCartney, 55, which also drew a number of other prominent female pop artists including Sabrina Carpenter, 27, Billie Eilish, 24, and Olivia Rodrigo, 23.

And Paul admitted he was full of admiration for all of them.

He said: “I did meet her… We had a party, my wife and my daughter Stella are great at attracting cool people, and I ended up chatting with them all. There was Taylor, there was Billie Eilish, there was Olivia Rodrigo, there was Sabrina Carpenter—you know, they’re really cool people, and they sing beautifully. If they ever need advice, I’d be happy to give it, but I don’t think they do.”

In 2024, Paul was spotted at one of Taylor’s Eras Tour performances at London’s Wembley Stadium, just days after he turned 82 on June 18 of that year,

The “I Knew It, I Knew You” singer attended Paul’s concert at Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre in March 2026.
