Sub Pop Records currently features a duo of noise-rock outfits on its roster: the Philadelphia-based Pissed Jeans and the Vancouver group PISS. The pairing feels like a perfect match, a true moment of synergy. The plan would be to bring the two outfits together for a Monsters Of Piss tour. Even with the shared label and their urine-themed band names, there’s no confusion between the two acts—they couldn’t sound more different. In fact, PISS’s latest track lands in a sonic world far removed from the most recent Pissed Jeans release.
PISS is set to issue their full-length debut you made me / skin on linen later this month, following the already released incendiary lead single “time loop at hot slit.” Today, they unveil another track with a heavier, contemplative mood, titled “blocking a scene you can’t remember.” Built on gradually rising slowcore guitar tones, frontperson Taylor Zantingh (who co-directed the clip with Nushi Sharma) delivers a forceful spoken-word tirade about how sexual abuse can leave scars that linger.
