Referring to the venue choices for their upcoming UK itinerary, which includes Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom, drummer Ben Thatcher said the spaces were selected to align with the energy of the new record. Frontman Mike Kerr added that playing in more intimate rooms tends to yield a richer experience for fans, helping the duo feel closer to the audience.
The conversation also touched on personal milestones, with Thatcher opening up about becoming a father and juggling family duties with a busy touring schedule. Kerr revealed his recent engagement. Thatcher noted that after a decade of nonstop touring, both musicians are now in a more settled phase of life that allows them to reflect on what they’ve achieved with greater clarity.
On their creative workflow, Kerr spoke about the difficulty of keeping the band’s sound fresh across several releases, especially given the two-piece format. He explained that the new material leans into heavy, drum-and-bass-forward textures reminiscent of Motörhead, a direction they felt had been largely untapped in their earlier work.
Kerr acknowledged that steering clear of repetition becomes more challenging with each album, yet using the duo’s intrinsic constraints as a driver for creativity continues to be a rewarding part of their writing process.
