Sam Fender Poised to Headline Glastonbury Festival

October 11, 2026

Sam Fender is lined up to headline Glastonbury.

The artist behind Rein Me In is said to be over the moon after securing one of the prized Pyramid Stage slots at Worthy Farm next June, and although the line-up won’t be officially revealed until spring, he has reportedly struggled to keep the news under wraps.

An insider told the Mail on Sunday that Fender views this as a major milestone in his career and is so excited that he has even told his neighbours.

The close friend of the 32-year-old singer, Lewis Capaldi, is said to have been lobbying for Fender to land the coveted headline slot.

Another source claimed Capaldi has been backing Sam to secure the top spot, including bringing him on stage at his own gigs to help raise his profile and spark more chatter.

Fender already played the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2022, three years after he had to withdraw from the festival at the last moment due to illness.

Tickets for next year’s festival, which can accommodate around 210,000 people, sold out in just 42 minutes last weekend.

The festival posted less than an hour after tickets went on sale last Sunday (04.10.26) expressing gratitude to those who bought tickets and apologising to others whose demand exceeded supply.

There will be a resale window for cancelled or returned tickets in Spring 2027.

Festival organiser Emily Eavis recently clarified that Oasis would not headline, even though they would be in the middle of a much-anticipated 2027 tour.

When a social media user asked whether the Gallagher brothers might appear at Worthy Farm, Eavis said that this time they would not be involved.

In August, Emily confirmed that all three headliners for 2027 had been booked, and she dismissed rumours that Madonna would top the bill.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s PM programme, she explained that Madonna isn’t part of the lineup and that the trio of headliners is in place, with preparations progressing well.

She added that the vast majority of Glastonbury stories circulating are not true and that rumours are almost always wrong, but she stressed that the headliners are secured and that the team is eager to return to the festival.

Meanwhile, reports from last month suggested Lily Allen had been invited by Eavis to perform at Glastonbury next year, following the acclaim of her 2025 West End Girl album.

A source cited by The Sun’s Bizarre column indicated that Emily holds Lily in high regard and views her as one of Britain’s musical greats.

Earlier in the summer, Emily is said to have formally asked Lily whether she would perform at Glastonbury next year.

Provided Lily’s schedule allows, the source believes she would likely accept.

Allen has a long association with Glastonbury, and her return to the festival after all these years would be seen as a sign that she is back at the top of her game.
