Selena Gomez has admitted that vaping nicotine quite a bit has altered the tone of her voice.
In a candid clip shared to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, the singer-turned-actor explained that her vocal quality has been affected by her habit.
“I don’t think I can undo the change in my voice. I used nicotine vape a lot, and just so everyone knows that it’s somewhat vaped,” she stated. “Nicotine is incredibly tough to quit.”
She also urged fans to avoid vaping or smoking cigarettes if at all possible.
“I just want to say, if you’re going through this, or even considering vaping, it isn’t worth it. It’s really dumb,” the Only Murders in the Building star continued. “It has changed my voice. So if you don’t enjoy listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind. Just don’t listen to it.”
To end, Selena revealed that she had recently given up vaping.
“I’m genuinely excited because I’ve stopped, and I hope I can keep it up. It’s really hard,” she added.
Back in December, fans had asked the star about apparent shifts in her voice during a Q&A on Instagram Live.
“I’ve received this question several times—the voice thing,” the 34-year-old said at the time. “Sometimes things happen. I get a bit weird. My throat swells up on occasion. That’s all there is to it.”
Selena released her most recent album, I Said I Love You First, in March 2025, a collaboration with her husband, producer Benny Blanco.
