Slash Wins 2026 Les Paul Spirit Award at Hollywood Gala

October 10, 2026

Rock icon Slash was honored with the distinguished 2026 Les Paul Spirit Award during a private gathering at The Les Paul Recording Studio, housed within Universal Master Recordings in Hollywood. The accolade, presented by the Les Paul Foundation in collaboration with Gibson Gives, marked a celebration of the guitarist’s extraordinary creative legacy and his lasting influence on modern music. The intimate affair brought together prominent figures from the music industry, along with artists and friends, to honour Slash’s enduring impact on the art form.

The prize recognizes an individual who embodies Les Paul’s pioneering drive—an amalgam of innovation, artistry, engineering, and musical vision. In keeping with that spirit, the physical trophy awarded to Slash was crafted by hand from authentic acoustic boards that Les Paul himself built and used in his home recording studio, ensuring each award is one of a kind.

Slash and Les Paul shared a deep personal friendship during the inventor’s lifetime, often performing together on stage. “Les was so much more than a great guitarist and innovator,” Slash reflected at the event. “He was an actual inventor who changed the instrument itself and completely reimagined how artists could record music. Receiving an award that carries his name and spirit is a tremendous honor.”

“Not only does Slash exemplify the creativity and curiosity Les had during his life, but he is also an extraordinary talent,” added Michael Braunstein, Executive Director of the Les Paul Foundation. “If Les were still alive today, Slash and he would be jamming onstage together somewhere regularly.”

Before the ceremony, a select group of media members were treated to an exclusive advance listening session inside the historic studio, previewing four tracks—”Good Time Girl,” “One of Your Kind,” “Flying Blind,” and “Looking for a Miracle”—from Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators’ forthcoming studio album, FLYING BLIND. Set for release on February 26, 2027, through Gibson Records, the 12-track project was largely captured live with producer Michael “Elvis” Baskette to preserve the band’s raw, spontaneous energy. The release will be complemented by the expansive FLYING BLIND WORLD TOUR 2027, spanning North America, Latin America, the United Kingdom, and Europe.
