Sleeper Feature: Louise Wener Reflects on Three Decades of Marriage and a Triumphant Comeback

October 7, 2026

Sleeper’s frontwoman Louise Wener sat down with Chris Moyles on Radio X to discuss her wedding after thirty years together and the band’s long-awaited return to the music scene.

Looking back on tying the knot in April after three decades with her partner, Wener quipped that she “had to be sure” he was the right person before fully embracing grown-up life. Even with the lengthy pause, she described the celebration as genuinely romantic and a meaningful tribute to everything they have weathered together.

Turning to music, she announced a robust slate of news, including a brand-new single released today, album pre-orders, and a tour scheduled for April 2027. Commenting on the sonic direction of the new material, she described the tracks as big, epic, beautiful, and slightly bruised—songs she feels could only be written at this particular stage of her life.

Drawing a line from her current songwriting to the peak of the 1990s Britpop era, Wener noted that aging has granted her a fresh perspective and a more direct emotional honesty. In her twenties, she tended to veil narratives behind characters, whereas today she tells her stories with unflinching candor, aiming to forge a deeper, more direct connection with listeners.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
