In December, DJ Sabrina The Teenage DJ released her long-awaited four-hour album Fantasy. The prolific London-based electronic musician resurfaced in March with the eight-minute house venture HeartsDesires, and just last week she released remixed, re-engineered, and remastered versions of her earlier LPs Makin’ Magick and Witchkraft. Now she returns with “Still Standing,” a track that has been in the works for roughly a decade.
On social media, she explained the backstory: the new song grew from a bass part dating back to 24 April 2016, with the rest of the arrangement built around it earlier this year, in February or March. It was perhaps intended for Magickraft but was ultimately kept for the album because it didn’t fit MK’s style. Enjoy!
