Stove God Cooks, the underground rapper from Syracuse, seemed poised for a major breakthrough in 2022 as he kept surfacing on Westside Gunn projects. Yet a protracted, acrimonious clash with the indie label Babygrande derailed his momentum. He hadn’t dropped a full-length since his 2020 debut, a Roc Marciano-produced effort titled Reasonable Drought. Recently, Stove God has mended fences with Babygrande and is collaborating on a new project with executive producer Swizz Beatz.
Today, Stove God Cooks reveals, via a press release described as a “strategic partnership,” a collaboration with both Babygrande and Warner Records. He is preparing a forthcoming album titled All This For Me?, with Swizz Beatz handling production on the lead single “Stovie’s Home (Down Down).” The track presents a more polished take on the aggressive, chaotic sound he once crafted alongside his Griselda peers. While some listeners might prefer him to settle into a steady groove and assert his swagger, his exacting flow and magnetic presence remain evident. Check it out below.
