The Curse of Jewelry

July 13, 2026

If you’re craving a bleak Monday, you’ve landed in the right place. “There is no cure/ Not for this curse/ When will it end/ Or will it get worse,” Joyeria deadpans on his haunting new Decay Decay Decay single “The Curse.”

“You can’t bypass the work and the mess it takes to be human,” Joy explains of the song. “It feels more and more as though the world at large is trying to force a correlation between wealth and intelligence, or value and monetary gain — but this is all a lie… it’s a misconception about what humanity is and what it is about life that creates value for those who participate in it.”

A violent viola adds to the ambiance, sounding plucked from a harrowing scene in a horror movie. Watch the accompanying, self-directed music video below.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
