From New Orleans, the two-piece project Twisted Teens have ascended as one of the year’s standout acts in the underground rock landscape, driven by two records that fuse a rough-edged, high-energy, Southern-fried punk sensibility with immediate catchiness. They have just announced a third LP planned for release later this year to accompany Blame The Clown and Florida Water Blues, a breakup concept they’ve likened to Blood On The Tracks. Whether a track titled “toe” will appear remains uncertain, but if it does, expect a direction that diverges notably from the rest of the band’s body of work.
Earlier today, Twisted Teens posted a short YouTube clip titled “toe.” It features a voicemail from a sheepish, apologetic woman explaining to the recipient that she accidentally uploaded a Facebook photo showing him sucking on her toe. The accompanying music is dark and slow, a stark contrast to the usual tempo of Twisted Teens’ songs. It’s surprisingly entertaining, though.
