Travis Barker wishes for his children to steer clear of the confrontational behavior he once showed earlier in his career.
The Blink-182 drummer has contemplated how his demeanor has evolved over time, conceding that he no longer takes pride in certain past reactions, especially in interactions with photographers and paparazzi.
In a discussion with The New York Times, Barker explained that he hopes his children, notably his son Landon, 22, and daughter Alabama, 20, will draw lessons from his experiences and block out the noise that comes with growing up in the public eye.
Both Landon and Alabama have ventured into the entertainment realm beside their father and carry substantial online presences of their own.
“I lead by example,” Travis, 50, said. “I used to almost get in fights with paparazzi. I’m not proud of any of that stuff.”
The drummer acknowledged that he previously had a short temper when he felt he was being followed or provoked, but he now tries to take a different approach.
“I used to have a temper when it came to people following us or just dumb stuff, I might be quick to react or be confrontational,” he told the publication. “But I’m like, that ain’t it, babe. It’s just all noise. Stay running in the direction you’re running in.”
He shares Landon, Alabama and stepdaughter Atiana De La Hoya with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler. He also has a two-year-old son Rocky with his wife Kourtney Kardashian, whom he married in 2022.
