Vehicle Announces Debut Album Fumes — Listen to Miserable Vibes

October 15, 2026

A few months back the fuzzy Leeds outfit Vehicle grabbed our attention with their track “Escalators.” The band’s brisk, retro-tinged shimmer hits the same pleasure centers as Sharp Pins and the Tubs, two outfits they’ve shared stages with. Next year, Vehicle will issue their debut full-length Fumes, a release that could leave folks Googling “vehicle fumes” for guidance on carbon-monoxide concerns.

Vehicle haven’t revealed the tracklist or art for Fumes yet, but they’ve just released a new single that hits just as hard as “Escalators.” Frontman Michael Cable opens the track “Miserable Vibes” with a drawl over nothing but his guitar, and when the rest of the band crashes in, the mood isn’t miserable in the least. Here’s Cable’s take on the track:

A withdrawn nostalgia addict goes cold turkey; everything surfaces, and the ending remains elusive. Archive footage drifts across the words — our hero isn’t sure what era they belong to anymore, and the song probes the odd guilt of living in a present that borrows too heavily from the past. In the end it doesn’t really matter: “I love wasting time.” Denim’s 1992 album Back In Denim is a major influence on this track.

Take a look below.

Fumes is slated for release on 3/19 through Esco Romanesco.
