Velocity Girl Unveils Unreleased Track ‘I Know Exactly What You Mean’ From the New 1989-1992 Compilation

Life moves at a breakneck pace, darling. Can it really be three decades since Velocity Girl, the Washington, DC indie-pop outfit, parted ways? The group, which briefly came back together in 2002, has been active again in recent times. In 2023 they staged their first performance in 21 years, and followed it with a handful more. In 2024 they issued a refreshed version of their debut album. Now, a new compilation is on the horizon.

Scheduled for release next month, 1989-1992 surveys Velocity Girl’s early years, before they inked a deal with Sub Pop. Alongside cherished selections, it features two tracks that had previously remained unheard, including “I Know Exactly What You Mean,” which surfaced online today. This song sparkles with jangly guitars and soars with vigor, and you’d be wise not to skip it below.
