Whippets Unveil No Skulls, Their New Album; Listen to Two Tracks

September 12, 2026

On the first day of the year, the Madison-based garage-punk outfit Wristwatch released their album III into the world. The group’s frontman, Bobby Hussy, also steers another project known as Whippets — a venture that leans toward a sunny, ’90s alt-rock vibe with grooves and a post-punk-inflected indie energy — and they’re rolling out a new record of their own as well.

No Skulls lands just a handful of weeks from now. Whippets had previously unveiled its leading track “Nothing New,” which features a keen lead guitar hook, a bass-forward pulse, and a chorus that seasons the band’s grunge-era sensibility with a playful dose of cartoonish new wave flavor. Today they follow up with the inviting opening cut “These Woods,” further emphasizing those bass lines in a way that evokes Les Savy Fav and the Dismemberment Plan.
