Whitmer Thomas Unveils New Track ‘Candy Corn’ in Video Co-Starring Joe Pera and Carmen Christopher

June 30, 2026

Whitmer Thomas isn’t solely recognized as an actor-comedian; he’s continuing to build momentum in his singer-songwriter arc. The Alabama native is following up last year’s Tilt EP with news that he has signed to Fire Talk Records, a label many hold in high regard. He also has a fresh single out—a languid indie-country stroll titled “Candy Corn”—where he repeatedly contemplates “the agony of aging.” The track is produced by the industrious Brad Cook. Thomas comments, “This is my broadest attempt to write about what youth felt like, looking back as an aging knucklehead.”

In the “Candy Corn” video, Thomas kicks off by filming fellow showbiz-adjacent personality Joe Pera listening to the song. The premise quickly pivots when Pera’s longtime collaborator Carmen Christopher (The Bear, Killing It, Shrill, Search Party) swipes Thomas’s phone and embarks on a tourism spree through New York City. While Christopher mostly plays the part of the easily amused out-of-towner who’s never heard of Brooklyn and can’t believe he’s inside a real New York bodega, he nevertheless captures the real-life pandemonium surrounding the Knicks’ NBA championship.
