Why Lex Walton Is Hooked on Facebook Marketplace

November 5, 2026

You’ve almost certainly come across Lex Walton, the artist whose Sub Pop debut ULTIMATE LOVE FOREVER has been rattling the indie world. Yet Walton isn’t confined to music alone—she also acts and has a well-worn habit of browsing Facebook Marketplace. Surrounded by a treasure trove of secondhand gear, she has already laid down roughly 35-40 demos for her upcoming album. We tapped Stereogum Deals Correspondent Rachel Brown to join Walton on a little expedition to snag a broken fuzz-wah pedal for the DIY power-pop creator’s “trash finder’s pile.”

ULTIMATE LOVE FOREVER is scheduled for a physical release later this month. In Brown’s interview with Walton, the two musicians explore record labels, life online, how she first fell into playing music, and, of course, the gear that shapes her sound. They also discuss Moe Tucker of the Velvet Underground, who has been sharing some dubious posts on Facebook lately, and they invite her to participate in a dialogue/debate panel. Watch below.

I write about music as a cultural signal, following the artists, scenes, releases, and movements that shape how people listen today. My work focuses on discovery, context, and the stories behind the sounds that travel beyond borders.
