Recently, Yummm—the project led by Matty Bedrosian of From Indian Lakes—announced the forthcoming album Sillyputty alongside the blazing lead single “Plug.” I didn’t manage to post that track at the time, so today you’re treated to a double serving of Yummm in your browser.
The album’s second preview, “Yarrow,” lands today. While “Plug” delivered a hard-hitting, momentum-fueled pop-rock rush that recalled Bedrosian’s work on Head Void (or Oso Oso catching a fierce current), “Yarrow” reveals a more smoldering facet of the Yummm sound, weaving subtle electronic textures into a restrained rock ballad with hints of DIIV and Alex G at their most stripped-down. A few words from Bedrosian:
This song explores the unpredictable power of a romantic fling, especially when life feels heavy and you doubt yourself. It celebrates the sense of abandonment romance can spur, while warning against losing your own identity chasing a dopamine high. Traditionally, the yarrow plant is used to stop the bleeding, not to replace it.
