Zak Starkey has surfaced as a potential drummer for the Oasis Live ’27 tour.
The sticksman, who is the son of Beatle Sir Ringo Starr, filled the drum stool for the Britpop legends from 2004 to 2008.
Nevertheless, for their long-awaited comeback last year with the Oasis Live ’25 tour, they opted for a fresh face, selecting Joey Waronker.
Alongside a clip of him laying down the beat on an unreleased Liam Gallagher track, Zak posted on Instagram this week: "My money’s on this dude for O LIVE 27. (sic)"
Starkey confirmed that talks about joining the 2025 run did take place, but he couldn’t commit to the gig.
He said at the time: “It was discussed with Noel [Gallagher], but I was in The Who.”
The Cosmos-era rocker cherished his Oasis days.
He recalled: “It was just f** great fun and fantastic rock’n’roll, start to finish… We were the greatest live band in the world, I think, at that time. It was like a f** comet coming at you.”
He also admitted he couldn’t bring himself to watch Joey behind the kit for the Wonderwall-era lineup.
The musician told the Daily Star last year: “I’ll cry if I go, in case he mucks it up.”
“I’m sure he won’t, but you know that’s my favourite band. I’d have done that gig for nothing, you know? I just loved it. I can’t see someone else do it that’s not me.”
Oasis Live ’27 will commence with five nights at Glasgow’s Celtic Park between May 21 and May 29, before they return to Manchester for 11 shows at the Etihad Stadium.
The band will perform two nights in Munich, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Paris, and Rome in July, before heading to the United States for three nights at Boston’s Gillette Stadium and three nights at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
Oasis will play two nights at Slane Castle in Ireland, and then head to Knebworth for their highly anticipated return to the iconic venue.
