Radiohead have broken the silence over their new album. Thom Yorke has told nme.com sessions for their new album remind him of working on "Kid A". The band recently regrouped to start rehearsing and recording new songs for the follow-up to 2003's "Hail To The Thief".
The album, not due until next year, will be the band's seventh. Thom said that early sessions had seen the band changing the way they work, reminding him of the change between 1997 LP "OK Computer" and "Kid A". He said: "It's going well. It's a bit like "Kid A" - we're going through a period of change. But that's good. We'll get there".

Neues Radiohead-Album im März?

Radiohead kriechen allmählich wieder aus dem Orchestergraben (wir berichteten). Nach der gemeinsamen Performance von Thom York und Gitarrist Jonny Greenwood mit dem Londonder Sinfonie-Orchester gibt es über die Fansite greenplastic.com erstmals Details zum kommenden Album. Die Aufnahmen seien noch Ende des Jahres im Kasten. 15 Songs werde der Longplayer umfassen, von denen bereits zwei Tracks "so gut wie fertig und fantastisch" geworden seien. Vielleicht handelt es sich hierbei um Songs mit den Titeln "Arpeggi" und "House of Cards", die York und Greenwood auf dem besagten Konzert erstmals live spielten.
Eigentlich sind Radiohead bekannt als eine Band mit einem überaus gemeinschaftlichen Spirit, wenn es um Basteleien im Studio geht. Es kursiert aber das Gerücht, dass die Zusammenarbeit zur Zeit nicht richtig funktionieren soll, sie sei "unorganisierter und merklich zerstreuter" als gewöhnlich. Sollte dennoch alles einigermaßen glatt laufen, können wir uns wahrscheinlich auf einen Release im März 2006 freuen, vielleicht sogar schon im Februar.

"We are going to tour next year, definitely.Hopefully we're going to have a couple of tracks to download by about April or May. But we're going to go out in May, we're going to do some theatres because part of what we're doing is play new material. It's a good way to get your shit together."
O'Brien explained the band will do UK and European dates in May before heading to America in the summer. He said the band hoped they would have around ten new songs in their set by then.

Having finally received the full list of North American tour dates, anticipating
tonight's perfomance of Jonny & Thom at London's Koko... bad news shortly followed.
Pitchfork quotes from a press release, saying: "There are no plans for a Radiohead album
release any time in 2006". I suppose we'll have to bootleg our own the coming months.

Thom's SOLO Album
'Eraser' soll es heißen und nach Auskunft von Thom hat er dafür nicht nur alle Tracks selbst geschrieben, sondern wird auch noch alle Instrumente selber einspielen.
Das Album erscheint hierzulande am 7.7. via XL Records.

Hab zu Thom's Projekt soeben ein Mail erhalten:
this is just a note to say that something has been kicking around in the background
that i have not told you about. its called The Eraser. nigel produced & arranged it .
i wrote and played it. the elements have been kicking round now for a few years and
needed to be finished & i have been itching to do something like this for ages. it was fun
and quick to do. inevitably it is more beats & electronics. but its songs. stanley did the
cover. yes its a record! no its not a radiohead record. as you know the band are now
touring and writing new stuff and getting to a good space so i want no crap about me
being a traitor or whatever splitting up blah blah... this was all done with their blessing.
and i don't wanna hear that word solo. doesnt sound right. ok then thats that.
i think its out in july and im pretty certain XL are going to put it out.

Wie ja im "momentan in meiner Stereoanlage"-Thread schon besprochen gefällt mindestens einigen von uns das Radiodread-Album recht gut.
Hier noch einige Anspieltipps (besonders gelungene Tracks):
Exit Music (For A Film) (feat. Sugar Minott)
Let Down (feat. Toots & The Maytals) Schön bewegt, wunderbare mehrstimmige Vocals, solider Reggae
Electioneering (feat. Morgan Heritage) Warscheinlich einer der schwierigeren Tracks zum übernehmen, darum umso besser gemacht (erinnert ein bisschen an Jan Delay)
The Tourist (feat. Israel Vibration, Skelly Vibe) Wie beim Original von mir aus gesehen auch hier der beste Track
"Climbing Up The Walls" gabs ja schon als Dub, da gefällt mir der Fila Brazillia Mix fast besser...

wahrscheinlich kennt ihr das längst, aber bin eben darauf gestossen, weil ein radiosender die besten coverversionen aller zeiten wählen lässt (nicht, dass das jetzt eins davon wäre, aber...):

ich mag das ganze album "exit music: songs with radio heads" mit den "coverversionen".
sia's version von paranoid android ist genial. im weiteren gefällt mir in limbo interpretiert von sa-ra besonders.
