So gaben sie schon 1984 ihr Debutalbum "Sonic Flower Groove" raus, das noch ziemlich rockig ist. Danach kam noch ein ähnlich rockendes "Primal Scream" raus. Bis jetzt wohl eine wohl talentierte, jedoch musikalisch nicht besonders auffallende Band. Auffällig waren sie um diese Zeit wohl eher wegen ihres Drogenkonsums und den abgefuckten Konzerten. Ihren grossen Durchbruch erreichten sie jedoch 1991 mit dem zumindest in der UK legendären Album "Screamadelica". Dabei zeigten sie wohl zum ersten mal ihre musikalische Vielfalt und Wandelbarkeit, die sich in wunderbar ekstatischen und euphorischen Stücken ausgelebt hat. Danach gerieten sie mit dem von George Clinton produzierten Album "Give Out But Don't Give Up" wieder eher auf die nicht experimentelle Schiene, was zu einem durchaus guten, jedoch nicht sehr spektakulären Album führte. Doch scheinbar haben sie ihre experimentellen Ressourcen nur etwas regenerieren lassen, weil man vom 1997 erschienen Album "Vanishing Point" mit Innovation nur zu überhäuft wird. So erlangte dieses Album Kritiken, die von "Lärm" bis zu "genialem Meisterwerk" führte. Ich persönlich halte es definitiv für zweiteres. Gespannt war man natürlich auf ein Nachfolgealbum. "XTRMNTR" kam dann pünktlich aufs neue Jahrtausend, um dieses in würdiger Weise einzudonnern. Voller Energie meldeten sie sich zurück, um zu zeigen, was man mit elektronischer Musik alles zusammenbasteln kann. So wurde langsam klar das Primal Scream definit zu einer der innovativsten Bands gehören. Zuletzt erschienen ist dann im Jahre 2002 noch ihr Album "Evil Heat", das wohl nochmals klarmacht, dass sie definitiv ihre Rockerzeiten hinter sich gelassen haben.
